Ranji Trophy Plate Group Manipur trail by 250 runs at Stumps on Day 2 after Meghalaya post 430 in first innings

IMPHAL, Nov 17 : Hosts Manipur are 180/4 to trail behind Meghalaya by 250 runs at stumps on Day 2 after the visitors posted an imposing first innings total of 430 runs upto this morning in their final league tie of the Ranji Trophy Plate Group at CK Pithawala Ground, Surat.
Resuming the day at 359/5 (in 90 overs) on the back of yesterday’s century knocks from Ajay Duhan 102 off 184 and Rahul Dalal 151 off 146, Meghalaya mustered 71 runs in 25.4 overs today before being dismissed for the first innings total of 430 runs.
Kush Agarwal (34 off 67) and Swastic (18 off 59), who resumed the day for Meghalaya added 15 more runs to their 44-run partnership as Jotin Pheiroijam bowled out Swastic of the 6th wicket before Bishorjit bowled out incoming Akash Kumar on 9 in the 1st delivery of the 101st over  to reduce Meghalaya to 390/7.
Bishorjit then got rid of Kush Agarwal for the 8th wicket before Thokchom Kishan bowled out Chengkam Sangma for the 9th wicket in the 3rd delivery of the 105th over as the scoreboard read 419.
Aryan was unbeaten on 23 off 54 as Meghalaya closed their first innings in the 4th delivery of the 116th over with Jotin Pheiroijam bowling out Aaron Nongrum for 6. Earlier yesterday, Manipuri bowlers L Ajay  (2/51) and Ng Johnson (2/34) had shared 4 crucial wickets.
Manipur then kickstarted on a shaky note and slumped to 93/4 losing Y Karnajit on 2, Kh Ulenyai on 34 off 47, M Ronald on 6 and Johnson on 23 off 33 balls.
From 93/4, Al Bashid and K Priyojit steadied the innings by forging an unbeaten partnership of 87-run for the fifth wicket to make it 180/4 (58 overs) at stumps.
Al Bashid 52 not out off 107 balls (5 fours) and K Priyojit 49 off 106 balls (6 fours and 1 six) will carry forward Manipur’s campaign on Day 3.
