Online registration introduced at RIMS
IMPHAL, Nov 18: In a significant leap towards easing the difficulties faced by patients in booking OPD appointments, RIMS Imphal has introduced an online registration system along with several new and convenient patient-oriented digital facilities.
According to a press release issued by the RIMS Media Cell, patients can now book their OPD appointments online through the Central Government’s ORS portal at www.ors.gov.in.
Upon successful booking, a unique appointment ID will be generated, which must be produced at the OPD counter to obtain the OPD sheet.
This helps streamline the registration process and avoid long queues, it said.
To further minimize waiting time at the OPD registration counters, RIMS has implemented the “Scan & Share” system.
Patients simply need to scan the QR code displayed at the OPD counters using their mobile phones and wait for their token number to be displayed on the digital screen and there is no need to stand in line.
To use the Scan & Share feature, patients must have an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID.
Patients can easily create their ABHA IDs either through the official ABHA mobile application or by visiting the ABHA ID creation counter at RIMS.
Token Dispenser machines have been installed at the OPD premises, enabling patients to self-generate tokens for both OPD consultations and investigations. This self-service facility ensures correct spelling and better crowd management, it said.
Meanwhile, a solemn organ donation pledge ceremony was held today at the Nursing Office, RIMS Imphal in the presence of Medical Superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh where 22 volunteers took the pledge for organ donation.
The event was organized in connection with the birthday celebration of Bheimisda Rajkumari of Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai and jointly coordinated by the Rajkumari family and Life Savers Manipur.
A total of 22 volunteers took the pledge for deceased organ donation, including nine Life Savers members (among them Bheimisda Rajkumari), RIMS Help Desk staff, two RIMS staff, and 13 friends and family members of Bheimisda Rajkumari.

Prof N Sanjib Singh appreciated the initiative, calling organ donation the noblest act after blood donation.
He commended the Rajkumari family for converting a personal occasion into a socially meaningful event and applauded Life Savers Manipur for their awareness efforts.
He also clarified the misconception that donated organs are used only for study, emphasizing that many organs and tissues can save or improve lives.
An awareness session was delivered by Laishram Monica Devi, Transplant Coordinator, RIMS, while Chongtham Pritam, Transplant Coordinator (MSW), hosted the ceremony.
Prof N Sanjib Singh distributed Organ Donation Pledge Certificates and felicitated all participants for their humanitarian contribution.
