CRPF-organised Football Tournament kicks off in Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI, Nov 17 : The football tournament organised by 112 Bn CRPF in collaboration with South Changoubung Youth Club and supported by Sports Authority of India kicked off today at SCYC playground.
The 16-team tournament that will run till November 21 was formally opened in the presence of Rajesh Kumar, DIG, Kangpokpi Range, CRPF as the chief guest alongside  key CRPF officials including RK Baruah, Commandant, 112 BN CRPF; Mukesh Taterway, 2IC, 112 BN; Deepak Kumar, 2IC, 112 BN, TS Baite, AC 113 BN and others. The tournament carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 for the winners and Rs 15,000 for the runners up besides medals and certificates and special individual prizes.
Addressing the gathering, DIG Rajesh Kumar highlighted the transformative role of the Khelo India initiative, launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports and the Sports Authority of India.
He emphasized that Khelo India aims to revive India’s sporting culture; encourages mass participation at the grassroots level; builds robust sports infrastructure; supports talent with scholarships and advanced training.
He lauded the efforts of the 112 BN CRPF and SCYC for bringing such a meaningful sporting event to Kangpokpi.
