3rd Premier League : AMOFA, SU post identical 2-1 wins

IMPHAL, Nov 18 : AMOFA, Moirang and SU, Sagolband posted identical 2-1 wins today at SSC ground, Sekta to extend their winning runs in the ongoing 3rd Premier League.
In the day’s first, AMOFA edged MIUFC, Mayang Imphal by 2-1 goals for the fourth win in 9 matches that also included 1 draw.
Goal remained elusive for both the sides in the first half despite frenetic efforts until AMOFA broke the deadlock through Moirangthem Somokanta in the 56th minute.
MIUFC who had won 6 matches in 9 matches, clawed their way back into the game with Maibam Kishan Meitei scoring the equaliser in the 67th minute but the parity did not last long as Hemam Bijio retained the lead for AMOFA in the 79th minute.
The two sides traded runs, with MIUFC looking for the equaliser and AMOFA seeking to add to their tally, in the remainder of the game but their efforts did not yield any result.
Eventually AMOFA walked away 2-1 winners.
In the following match at the same venue, SU posted their fifth win in 9 matches riding Rewung R Shimray’s stoppage time goal.
SU and KIYC entered into the break goalless but KIYC went ahead after 55 minutes with Md Mustofa making the most of a chance.
SU however did not lose hope and came to level terms within two minutes as Ganningam Malangmei found the equaliser.
The two sides exchanged a series of runs in the remainder of the game in search of the winner but SU emerged the luckier side as Rewung R Shimray scored four minutes into the 9-added minutes to make all the difference.
Tourney postponed till November 25
The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has informed that the tournament (3rd Premier League) has been postponed till November 25 in view of the State team preparatory for the upcoming 79th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2025-26.
Informing this in a memorandum, AMFA further informed that a revised fixture will be published in due course of time.
