"By the time the truth ties its shoelaces, lies have already circled the globe."
Today's challenge is to ensure that democracy, media, and technology work together to accelerate the journey of truth and slow down the pace of lies.-
Gondia-The battle between lies and truth is the oldest in the history of human civilization at the global level. Lies are always attractive, spread rapidly, and easily attract people, while truth takes time to establish itself. This is why the saying, "By the time the truth ties its shoelaces, lies have already circled the globe. "This statement is not merely a literary satire but a mirror of social, political, economic, and technological realities.
It deeply reflects the realities of politics, society, and international relations. The impact of the rapid pace of lies and the slow acceptance of truth extends today from global politics to social media, journalism, education, and international relations.  It is said that "truth always triumphs," but the ground reality of politics is that lies always travel much faster than truth. If we consider this in the context of Indian national and international politics, both provide a vivid example of this adage. Whether it's social media, election cam- paigns, wartime propagan-da, or global diplomacy, lies first capture the public's mind, while truth takes time to gain its foothold. In the 21st century, the internet and social media have accelerated the speed of lies even further. Now, a false news story can travel around the world in a matter of minutes.
Fake News: False news influences public opinion during elections. In the investment world, rumors can shake the stock market. False news can make share prices rise or fall, while the truth takes time to emerge. Politics is theultimate laboratory for lies and truth. Politicians often make promises and claims that contain more lies than truth. The speed of lies is so rapid that their impact lasts until the election, but when the truth is revealed, the public becomes disillusioned.  This is why populist leaders in many democratic countries rise to power by resorting to lies.
The role of the media: The fundamental purpose of journalism is to expose the truth, but the media can also become a major vehicle for lies. This is why the term "post-truth era" came into being. Today, many media outlets promote lies for TRPs. However, investigative journalism still defends the truth.
The equation of lies and truth in international politics. I want to clarify that there is no proof of its accuracy. This article has been prepared by researching information available in the media.
