IMPHAL, Nov 1 : Thokchom Bincy of Imphal West who claimed both the U-11 and U-13 singles titles in the ongoing State Open Ranking Table Tennis Tournament 2025 extended her title run by securing another gold medal, this time in the U-17 girls doubles event with Sanjenbam Angkita.
The Imphal West pair of Bincy and Angkita won 11-7, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8 against Thoubal’s pair of Ningombam Riya and Ch Alia.
Angkita had earlier won the U-17 girls singles title by defeating Ningombam Riya 11-4, 11-7, 11-0 in the final clash.
Yengkhom Purnachandra also struck double gold medals today as he clinched the U-17 boys singles title by defeating B Umesh Sharma 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 in an all-Thoubal clash before pairing up with L Lamjingba to seal the U-17 boys doubles title by handing the Thoubal pair of Sagolsem Hemjit and Akoijam Inunganba a 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 defeat in the final.
The Imphal East’s doubles pair of N Sidharth and Ksh Nelson meanwhile won the men’s doubles title with a straight sets (11-8, 12-10, 11-9) win over the IW-IE pair of Aheibam Bikash and S Joychandra in the final match.
Men’s 45+ doubles title meanwhile went to the Imphal West pair of Th Akshay and Dharmendra who edged compatriots Th Birendra Kumar and Ch Marjit 7-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-6, 12-10 in a keenly contested title clash today.
The tournament being hosted by the Thoubal District Table Tennis Association under the aegis of Manipur Table Tennis Association will conclude tomorrow.
