UNC condemns
SENAPATI, Nov 1: The United Naga Council (UNC) said today that it was shocked to learn of the occurrence of an "undesirable and ugly incident" wherein the lives of the leaders of the Monsang Students’ Union were put in "danger" and imperiling the peace in the State.
The UNC said it condemns the "dastardly act" meted out upon the Monsang STS leaders, namely Gedion Kiiri, president, Wanglar Phillip, general secretary, Ts Hollyson and Th Moni, senior leaders of the STS by the miscreants on October 30 near Bijoypur between Kakching Lamkhai and Pallel, while they were returning home to Chandel.
Taking cognizance over the severity of the said incident, "which has deeply hurt the sentiment of the Nagas, especially the students and youths in particular", the UNC said the responsible bodies and persons involved must take responsibility to contain the situation and settle the matter at the earliest.
The UNC then cautioned all concerned to maintain restraint and seek justice through peaceful means as per Naga customary laws.
While appreciating the swift action of the law enforcing agencies, the UNC appealed to the State authorities to look into the matter earnestly and book all the criminals involved at the earliest and give exemplary punishment to meet the ends of justice. Newmai News Network
