IMPHAL, Nov 19 : Manipur pulled off a 3-1 win over Gujarat to start their Group C campaign in the Dr Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 on a winning note at RDT Stadium, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh this morning.
Manipur got off to a flying start and raced to a 2-0 first half lead and added one goal in the second half to seal the game 3-1.
India international Longjam Nira drew first blood making the most of a chance in the 7th minute before Thokchom Yaiphaba doubled the advantage in the 29th minute.
After the restart, Gujarat pulled back a goal in the 58th minute through Urmilaben Thakor but Manipur restored their two-goal advantage courtesy of Senjam Alva Devi’s 68th minute strike. Gujarat, however, amped up their defence in the remainder of the game to deny any alteration in the scoreline.
With the result, Manipur are second in the group table behind Karnataka who romped 4-0 past Chhattisgarh in their opening clash.
Manipur will play Chhattisgarh in the next match on November 21 before playing Karnataka on November 23.
