IMPHAL, Nov 19: The 24-hour general strike called by proscribed outfit KCP-MC (Progressive) affected normal life across several districts.
The general strike called, boycotting the Manipur Sangai Festival, vehicular movement, shut markets, educational institutions and banks.
Khwairamband Keithel and other markets in Imphal bore deserted looks.
Except for some private vehicles, no passenger service vehicles were seen plying the roads.
Emergency services, and vehicles transporting/supplying water were not affected.
Attendance in Government offices was low.
Our Correspondent reports that the general strike also affected normal life in Thoubal district today.
Markets in Thoubal, Wangjing and Yairipok remained shut.
Attendance at Government offices were low, and all schools, banks and oil pumps were closed.
Passenger vehicle services were hit.
No untoward incidents have been reported.
