IMPHAL, Nov 19 : The Kangleipak Communist Party (Politburo Standing Committee) has raised concerns about a 'gang' allegedly extorting money by posing as revolutionaries, using threats and intimidations.
The outfit, in a statement issued by its secretary M Punshiba Meitei, claimed that a fraudulent group recently served a forged letterhead to an individual demanding a substantial amount of money in the name of the organization.
Further claiming that the impostors sent a QR code of GPay to facilitate the money transfer, the outfit maintained that the QR code was found linked to an SBI account registered in the name of one Temjen Imchen.
The outfit emphasized that such fraudulent gangs which extort money through threats and intimidation must be eradicated.
Seeking public cooperation in eliminating these criminal elements, the outfit urged citizens to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any monetary demand received via UPI in the name of revolutionary organizations.
If such demands are found to be fraudulent, the outfit advised the public to inform the outfits concerned or locals and take collective action against the impostors.
The outfit further stated that its cadres are collaborating with other revolutionary outfits to identify and eliminate these criminal elements impersonating armed groups.
The outfit announced that its Politburo Standing Committee has imposed a complete ban on the Department of Finance and Budget Management of KCP (Ibungo Ngangom) from issuing any monetary demands to individuals or families following the violent campaign waged by Kuki-Zo narco-terrorist groups against the Meetei community.
It clarified that any monetary demand made in the name of the KCP (Politburo Standing Committee) is the work of fraudulent gangs.
