3rd Senapati District Veteran Football Tourney opens

SENAPATI, Nov 20: The 3rd edition of Senapati District Veteran Football Tournament kicked off at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati on Thursday.
The tournament is being organised by the Senapati District Veteran Football Association (SDVFA) in collaboration with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM).
16 teams are participating in the tournament.
Pool A teams include defending champions Makhrelui VFC, Khyouchi VFC, United VFC and Arufii VFC.
Pool B : Vaki VFC, Heudu VFC, Khaomatei VFC and Iril Proumai VFC
Pool C: Oklong VFC, Southern Naga VFC, Taphou VFC and Sheemai VFC
Pool D: Ngapu VFC, Katomei VFC, Raimai VFC and Karong Union VFC
The tournament will culminate on December 3.
M James Thangal, SDPO Mao and A Karang, president, Senapati District Veteran Football Association (SDVFA) attended the inaugural event.
M James Thangal lauded the organising committee for their dedication and hard work that they have invested in organising the tournament.
Sports are for everyone, regardless of age. The tournament is not just for a series of matches, but a celebration of the enduring passion for the beautiful game and the incredible spirit of every participant, he said.
To all the veteran players, he extended his heartfelt respect and gratitude, adding they are the legends of yesteryear who have inspired younger aspiring players.
The tournament is a testament to the fact that age is merely a number when the passion for sports runs deep, he added. James urged all the teams to play with integrity, respect, and determination, embrace every challenge, support and cheer one another, and most importantly, enjoy the game.
