IMPHAL, Nov 21: MLA Kh Joykisan has asserted that resettlement of IDPs and their welfare must be given priorities under the prevailing situation of Manipur.
The MLA made this statement today at the inaugural function of a newly renovated community hall at Tharon village within Thangmeiband AC.
He said that special attention must be given to resettlement of IDPs and their welfare so as to bring peace and normalcy in the State. The public including CSOs, NGOs and Government employees have been working for the welfare and resettlement of IDPs. The same efforts need to be re-invigorated so that all the IDPs can go back to their homes, Joykisan said.
He said that there is no meaning to territorial integrity if there is no emotional integrity among the different communities living together. He also appealed to all people to be wary of those elements who have been playing communal politics to create their own vote banks.
The MLA then appealed to all people of both the hills and the valley to promote the spirit of harmonious coexistence and stand united to protect the integrity of Manipur.
With regard to an appeal made by the Tharon Village Women Society, Joykisan said that he will take up necessary steps to build an office building of the women’s society after Christmas.
He said that repairing/construction of roads of Thangmeiband AC has already begun.
Joykisan said that he will also work to construct drainage systems too, apart from roads.
