Mohan Bhagwat , Sarsanghchalak  said,   “if there is no Hindu there will be no world”. It may sound flimsy and funny. If we seriously try to understand the profundity of such a proclamation we may get some idea. A Chhoota  mota thinker like me is also trying to comprehend such an exclamatory expression.  Even for me the expression is thought-provoking and enigmatic.
The RSS Chief is a very well read person (learned Doc). Historically he is right to say that the Bharatiya civilization or the Indian civilization is the only ancient civilization which is still surviving and kicking – rather doing well.  All other ancient civilizations like the Greek, Roman, Mesopotamian and Egyptian were over. But the Indian civilization still continues.
Mohan Bhagwat was trying to give a hint to the sustainability and durability of the Bharatiya civilization. According to him the net-work and foundation of the Sanatan  Hindustan has been very strong and firm. The strength and power of Hindu culture and tradition – the world had seen. Despite repeated foreign invasions, rules and external  interferences the Hindu society and culture continued to live-on.
The endurance power of Sanatan Dharma is marvelous, and its overreaching effect and encompassing capacity is also colossal. Hindu tradition protects and promotes the great Vedic-Puranic-Upanisadic ideas. Everyone knows that in Sanatana Hindu tradition innumerous practices, ideas, rituals, philosophies co-exist - from Atheists to Agnostics to Believers ,  from meat- eaters to fish-connoisseurs and to pure-veg- consumers – all are Bharatiyas. They  have the liberty to worship a stone, a snake, a forest spirit or anything . This is the Great Indian Tradition ( Sanatan).
The existence of full liberty is in the very eco system of Sanatan - drinking habits, ritualistic style, choice of god and goddesses, costumes and customs – you have the freedom of choices. Such kind of liberty and extravagance is not found in any traditions of the world. This Hindu Sanatan Dharma is the only culture which is truly aligned to the basic human nature. A culture or tradition which is in conformity with human behavior, thoughts and thinking will survive as long as humanity exists. With this thought RSS Chief might have uttered “if there is no Hindu there will be no world”. Perhaps he was talking about the universality of our civilizational paradigm. Political power comes and goes, empire rises and falls , and rulers appear and disappear - what remains is the intrinsic components  of the  Santana Culture  backed by the age-old philosophies and  ideas.  Moreover the epics and mythological-histories bind the people.
This great civilization is indeed the boon of a peculiar geographical and topographical conjunction – from the coldest Himalayas, to the hottest tropical regions,  to the temperate regions and full of rivers, plateaus, desert and surrounded by seas  – human existence is made easy and  enduring . Recently  an  AI was asked “  if there is any global catastrophe , where could be the only place where humans can continue to survive?” – the AI reply stunned everyone -  “India is the only  place o humans can continue to live on”.  That means Mohan ji’s remark and AI’s response is in a way similar.
This  debate  will continue further at the national level when he goes back to  Delhi or Nagpur . The fundamental issue is that wherever Hindu culture spreads and reaches – there is less conflict and clashes. As such Sanatana culture is not an aggressive culture . It is fundamentally based on love, affection, non-violence and ultimate truth . Yes of course there were wars and battles fought – but those were for power or authority. The purpose of the fight was for political control and hegemony – but certainly not on belief system or philosophies.
In ancient post vedic Bharat there were about 600 belief systems before the rise of Buddhism and Jainism. Today I really don’t know how many belief systems or practices we have within the Bharatiya Sanatan tradition - maybe thousands. But the fact remains that all the religious  practices and  rituals  - are directly or indirectly linked with the Ultimate Creator or Energy or  Brahman. For instance all our nature worships – is indeed very close to it. We worship cosmic energies – like the sun, stars, planets , moon – this is also linked to the ultimate energy or Almighty.
One of the most attractive qualities of Sanatan Dharma is that it has the capacity to accept other foreign cultures too .It never allows abhorring or alienating other cultures.  However acceptance does not mean absorption.
Sarsanghchalak ji talked about the inclusive nature of Hindu Santana Tradition ”Ekam Sat Vipra Bahudha Vadanti “(truth, compassion, purity, and austerity as the essence of Dharma ). With this, Hindu community will remain in eternity.
Mohan ji also said that Sangh has been trying to restore normalcy in Manipur. They are not playing the role of the government rather helping the government and the people to bring about peace and harmony in the State. “Whether Government knows about it or not - we are concerned”.
Bridging the ethnic gap being the motto of the visit – we are grateful to Bhagwat ji.
