Sensitization, capacity building programmes held

IMPHAL, Nov 22 : The Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur on Saturday successfully conducted a 1-day capacity development Programme to promote the ‘Chak Hao’ rice in Manipur at its premises in Sanjenthong, Imphal.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Government of India.
N Kheda Varta Singh, Secretary (Agriculture), Manipur; Peter Salam, Director of Agriculture, Manipur; Saurabh Kumar Srivastava, Consultant, APEDA(NER) and Dr Ingudam Bhupendra, Deputy Director of Extension, Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal graced the programme as presidium members.
The programme also witnessed the active participation of experts from ICAR and KVK, entrepreneurs and Chak Hao farmers of the State.
Moreover, Manipur Legal Aid Organisation (MALAO) organised a legal sensitization programme at Manipur Press Club today.
During the programme, Salam Imocha, retired Judge, Special Court (POCSO) gave a talk on the topic “POCSO Act 2012- Pros and Cons” while Aribam Noutuneshwari, retired District & Session Judge, elaborated on “Protection of Women and Children under Constitution and Relevant Laws” and Irom Lalitkumar, Senior Advocate, High Court & Supreme Court of India, spoke on “MLR Land Reforms Act with the Law of Eviction”.
MALAO convenor Ngangom Tejkumar was also present at the programme.
