Illegal liquor racket busted, 7 held

IMPHAL, Nov 22 : In a major crackdown on coun-terfeit liquor production, security forces arrested seven individuals allegedly invol-ved in manufacturing illicit liquor from a hideout at Phayeng Bazar, Imphal West, along with a large quantity of fake McDowell’s stickers, cartons printed with McDowell’s branding, and bottle caps bearing the McDowell’s logo.
Among the seven arrested individuals, one is a resident of Kadamtala in Jiribam district, while the remaining six are natives of Assam, said a bulletin issued by police late last night
They have been identified as Chingakham Bihari of Kadamtala, Dibong in Jiribam; Madhav Lahon of Dibrugarh, Assam; Chandan Lahon of Dibrugarh, Assam, Bimal Neog of Dhemaji, Assam; Budheswar Neog of Dibrugarh Assam; Hemanta Neog of Dhemaji Assam and Tilak Neog of Dhemaji, Assam.
They were arrested on November 20, said police.
From their possession, security forces seized multiple steel drums of 200 litre filled with alcohol like liquid, bottling machine and equipment, pressure gauges, plastic drums filled with alcohol scented liquid, empty barrels and bottles without labels, label stickers printed with "McDowell", huge bundles of small cartons printed with "Iconic" & "McDowell", various chemicals, a large quantity of bottle covers printed with "McDowell" and a red mini truck.
