IMPHAL, Nov 23 : Manipur edged Karnataka by 2-1 goals to consolidate Group C pole position in the ongoing Dr Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26 Tier I and qualify for the semi-finals.
Manipur, having beaten Gujarat 3-1 in the first league match and romped 4-0 past Chhattisgarh in the second match, rode on first half goals from Longjam Nira Chanu (16’) and Chingkhamayum Redima Devi (40’) to seal the victory today at RDT Stadium, Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh this evening.
Karnataka who were also looking for a win in their bid to make the top of the table finish, had to regret their missed chances for a major portion of the game until H Yashica found the back of the Manipur net in the 82nd minute to half the deficit.
It, however, turned to be their consolation goal as Manipur amped up their defence and held onto their lead to seal the third straight victory in the league round.
Chingkhamayum Redima who scored her second goal in today’s win was adjudged player of the match.
