IMPHAL, Nov 24 : Davin Aiden Meeker and Zackary Coleman scored three goals apiece to hand USA a 7-5 win over India-C (Chhattisgarh) in the 15th Manipur Polo International being underway at Mapal Kangjeibung.
USA, who slumped to a 4-6 loss to Colombia, in the opening match, started slowly and were locked at 1-1 with India-C till halfway mark before they made the most of the remaining chukkers to add 6 goals and came out 7-5 victorious.
Zackary Coleman earned USA a slender 1-0 first chukker lead by smashing home the ball in the 5th minute.
K Swarnakumar however made sure that Chhattisgarh came to level in the closing seconds of the second half.
The third chukker saw both the teams adding three goals apiece to their tally to remain on level pegging before USA raced ahead in the final chukker by adding another three goals against India-C’s 1.
Davin Aiden Meeker added twice before Zackary had his second in the third chukker while Kh Sushillo scored all the three goals for India-C.
Davin Aiden Meeker and Zackary Coleman then completed their trebles in the fourth chukker and Daniel Coleman scored in between to earn the victory as Chitrabhanu scored the lone goal for India-C.
Later in the day, S Bon Bon led India-B (Manipur) to an 11-7 win over India-A (IPA).
Manipur had a bright start and led the first chukker 5-2 before cruising to an 8-4 lead till halfway mark.
Neither team found the target in the third period before the two sides added three goals apiece and Manipur emerged 11-7 winners.
Vijay Singh scored twice for India-A in the first chukker that saw T Leishemba scoring one and S Bon Bon adding four goals for Manipur.
Vijay Singh and Rabinder Mang were on target for India-A in the second chukker as L Atangba scored twice and T Leishemba scored one.
In the final chukker, Major Anand Raj Purohit scored one and Vijay Singh scored twice to complete his haul of 5 wickets but his effort went in vain as S Saolin struck twice and L Atangaba had his third goal to make the final scoreline read 11-7.
