Second DGAR Hockey Tournament commences at Khuman Lampak

IMPHAL, Nov 24
Assam Rifles inaugurated the Second DGAR Hockey Tournament at the Khuman Lampak Astro Turf Stadium, Imphal today.
The tournament, organised as part of the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (ARCAP), will run till December 2.
This year’s edition features a total of 12 teams, 8 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams making it one of the most vibrant and inclusive hockey events hosted by Assam Rifles in the region, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
The championship aims to provide a professional platform for young athletes to compete, refine their skills and pursue greater sporting excellence, it said.
The opening ceremony was graced by senior officials from Assam Rifles, Olympian K Thoiba among others. Their participation added inspiration and enthusiasm to the event, highlighting Manipur’s continued prominence as the sporting powerhouse of the Nation, it said.
The first match of the tournament was played between the Indian Army team and YCCIC, where the Indian Army registered a commanding 7-0 victory.
The tournament embodies Assam Rifles’ enduring commitment to promoting competitive sports, engaging youth and fostering strong civil–military relations, it said.
