My Manipur, My Responsibility drive held

IMPHAL, Nov 24 : The Meitei Alliance conducted a civic responsibility speech competition today at the GP Women’s College Hall, Imphal, as part of its ongoing educational initiative, "My Manipur, My Responsibility."
The event was graced by Prof W Chandbabu, Vice Chancellor of DM University as chief guest and Prof L Rajen Singh, Principal of GP Women’s College as guest of honour.
The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges viz Chongtham Nandita, Colonel (retd) Sapam Shantikumar, Mangka Mayanglambam, Raees Ahamed Tampak, and retired IAS officer RK Nimai, IAS, said a press release issued by the Alliance.
After performances by short-listed participants, Wairokpam Bobita Devi of Nongmeibung bagged the first position while Leisna Diana Aribam of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai and Md Irshad Ali of Keirao Makting Maning Leikai won the second and third place respectively.
The Meitei Alliance  appreciated Hirom ongbi Bijentimala for  sponsoring the third prize in memory of her late parents, Akoijam Kalabi and Akoijam Ongbi Thoinu.
The Civic Responsibility Campaign now moves into its next phase, where Meitei Alliance volunteers will engage with schools, colleges, and universities across Manipur, it said and added that students will be engaged and encouraged to write their personal pledges on civic responsibility, which will be displayed on Pledge Walls in their respective institutions during the visits.
These walls, prepared and provided by the Meitei Alliance, aim to inspire lasting commitment to integrity, unity, and responsible citizenship, it added.
To make this stage successful, the Meitei Alliance sought the cooperation and support of the educational authorities concerned , as well as volunteers willing to assist in outreach and engagement activities.
The Meitei Alliance will soon announce the theme and details of the next campaign under My Manipur, My Responsibility, it said.
