Manipur slump to 19-run loss in U23 Women’s T20 Trophy

IMPHAL, Nov 25 : Manipur suffered a 19-run loss to Meghalaya in the second match of the U23 Women’s T20 Trophy Plate Group league round at Police Training Academy Ground, Agartala today.
Manipur had to rue their decision to bowl first as they were bundled out for 50 runs within 8.5 over while chasing a target of 70 runs.
Asked to bat first, Meghalaya posted a total of 69 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in a match that was truncated to 9 overs an innings but Manipur batters failed to read the flow of the play and departed cheaply before they succumbed at 50 with Seterny unbeaten on 6.
For Meghalaya, Suriti scored an unbeaten 33 off 24 balls as Dubleen scored second highest 8 for the team. Manipur captain Thoudam Niruta returned with 2/21 in the innings as Barkatun (1/8) and Th Mangalsana (1/21) chipped in with a wicket apiece. For Manipur, Thoudam Niruta scored the highest 11 off 12 followed by Barkatun on 9 as 7 batters got run out. N Nongrum (2/15) and SD Kharbani (1/5) were among the wickets for Meghalaya in this innings.
Manipur will play Mizoram in the next match on November 27.
