Students say no to SUP

IMPHAL, Nov 25: A district level powerpoint presentation competition on the theme "Say no to single-use plastic" was held for school students at the office premises of ZEO Zone-II Imphal East.
Students of eight private schools and 9 Government schools participated in the competition, organised by the Zonal Education Officer, Zone-II and Project Officer Samagra Shiksha Imphal East under Eco Clubs For Mission LiFE.
In the private school category, Hundred Flowers Higher Secondary School, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School and SL Arena of Learning bagged the first, second and third position respectively.
In the Government school category, Eastern Ideal High School, Top Bengoon High School and Kairang Upper Primary School were adjudged the first, second and third position respectively.
Speaking during the competition, ZEO Zone-II Sucheta Khumukcham said the competition was organised to raise awareness on the harmful impacts of single-use plastics (SUPs) and help find a sustainable alternative to the SUPs.
In the competition, students made powerpoint presentations on harmful impacts of single-use plastics and related activities taken up in their schools and surrounding.
District Coordinator Youth and Eco Club, Lourembam Rebika, students and teachers of schools attended the competition.
