Children Disneyland show dismantled completely

IMPHAL, Nov 27: Children Disneyland Show which was supposed to be a major attraction of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2025 has been dismantled completely.
With many CSOs boycotting the festival in solidarity to the plight of IDPs and the public voicing strong objection to holding Manipur Sangai Festival before peace and normalcy are fully restored in the State, the festival is unable to draw any sizable crowd from the beginning.
In the absence of any sizable crowd, dismantling of the Children Disneyland Show installed at Khuman Lampak started on the fourth day of the festival and the dismantling completed today, the seventh day.
Children Disneyland Show is included in the list of events of Manipur Sangai Festival 2025 till date. The official reason for completely dismantling the show is not known yet.
Due preparations were made at Khuman Lampak for several events including     adventure sports and activities, children Disneyland show, Dhanamanjuri kang Tournament etc.
Though not many, a few people come for the adventure and sports activities everyday which include trampoline, spider net, rope bridge, body zorbing, water zorbing, land zorbing, motor boat etc.
However, almost all the stalls constructed at Khuman Lampak are empty till the seventh day of the festival.
Meanwhile, the number of stalls opened at Hapta Kangjeibung has been decreasing day by day with more and more stall owners opting out of the festival.
As the number of visitors are too little unlike the previous editions of the festival, the stalls are making little sale and many of them are unable to even recover the deposit amount. This was stated by the stall owners themselves.
Nonetheless, cultural items are being held as scheduled at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT). But again,  there are little or no spectators with the exception of security perso- nnel and Govt officials.
Sangai Film Festival 2025 is being held at MSFDS auditorium but there are no viewers. Films are being screened without viewers.
With several CSOs and the IDPs protesting vehemently against the Govt’s decision to hold the festival instead of prioritising the issue of resettlement of IDPs, the Manipur Sangai Festival, so far, seems to be nothing more than tokenism.
