TML, Nov 27 : To mark a decade of Amur Falcon conservation in Tamenglong district, a run named- Amur Falcon Run 2025 was today conducted under the initiative of DFO Tamenglong and Rainforest Club Tamenglong in collaboration with the 6th Assam Rifles, Tamenglong in the district.
Altogether 82 runners including 22 women participated in the 10 km run with great enthusiasm.
In the men's category, Gainithui Malangmei of Pongringlong, Kh Wahid of New Checkon, Pourimyibe Pame of Phoklong, Muhammad Kurbash Khan of Wangjing made the top four finishes as Kedangwale Panmei of Lungniyam, KC Kakhunguiliu of Tamenglong ward no 10, Machunkhuanliu Panmei of Duiluan, Njianthualiu Gonmei of Thiulon made the to four finishes in the women’s category.
Notably, three Amur Falcons namely Apapang (A hillock of roosting sites in Chiuluan village), Ahu ( Rongmei dialect name of Barak River) and Alang ( Rongmei dialect name of Irang River) were satellite tagged in Manipur this year during their brief sojourn before they resume their migration and reached Africa in a record time of 7 days.
The Amur Falcon run event was attended by Dr Chambo Gonmei, Founder Rainforest Club, Tamenglong; Colonel Navjot Rekhi, Commandant 6 Assam Rifles; Lt Colonel Anupam 2 IC Assam Rifles Tamenglong; Promeshor Angom, RFO, Tamenglong; members of civil society organisations and various youth and village leaders of Tamenglong town headquarters.
