NSUC reaffirms commitment to protect 'ancestral land'

Chandel, Nov 27: The Naga Students’ Union Chandel (NSUC) has reiterated its firm stand on safeguarding the ancestral land of the Nagas during its 3rd Federal Assembly held on Tuesday at Moyon Khullen (Bujuur Khufhuw) in Chandel district. The student body also underscored the need for quality education in the district.
The federal assembly, hosted by Thiimziih Teen Bujuur Ruwrkheh–TTBR (Moyon Naga Students’ Union) and its constituent bodies, focused on crafting a clear and determined message on defending ancestral land, improving education, and strengthening the community platform.
The assembly highlighted the importance of preserving heritage and the sanctity of ancestral land as core elements of identity and culture. It also drew attention to ongoing threats and reaffirmed the community’s right to protect, reclaim, and steward ancestral territories. The NSUC stressed the need for collective action, legal advocacy, and sustainable stewardship to honour the legacy of the forefathers. It further emphasised the importance of accessible, high-standard education that equips younger generations with essential knowledge and skills.
The Union called for investment in schools, teacher training, and educational infrastructure in the district.
Education, the assembly noted, remains a vital tool for breaking cycles of poverty and creating pathways for future leadership and innovation.
The NSUC also urged the strengthening of a united and inclusive community platform that amplifies voices and coordinates shared goals. It encouraged greater collaboration among leaders, youth, and stakeholders to increase the platform’s impact, while promoting transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
