Charhazare team win Kangpokpi District Khelo India Cricket Tournament

KANGPOKPI, Nov 27 : Charhazare team beat Damdei Legend team by 11 runs to seal the title of the Kangpokpi District Cricket Tournament organised under Khelo India Scheme by 94 Bn CRPF under the aegis of the IG, M&N Sector from November 21.
The tournament was held under the guidance of DIG, CRPF, KPI with the intention to propagate peace & harmony through sports at Damdei Christian College ground.
As Charhazare team were crowned the champions of the 12-team tournament, the best disciplined team title went to KPI Cricket Club while Shubham Rawat of Charhazare team and Piyush Sahoo of Damdei Legend team were feted with man of the match and man of the tournament trophies.
The closing ceremony was graced by the DIG CRPF KPI; Comdt 131 BN, BSF; Comdt 112 Bn, CRPF; Comdt 152 Bn, CRPF, Branch Managers SBI Motbung & Sapermiena along with the local dignitaries.
The local people and youth also made their significant presence in the final match as well as the closing ceremony that also featured cultural programmes by local Nepali and Kuki girls.
Speaking as chief guest, Rajesh Kumar, DIG,CRPF,KPI expressed his happiness to see the interest and zeal of the youth in the game like cricket and competitive spirit and true sportsmanship shown by them during the tournament.
