Manipur thrash Nagaland by 64 runs to complete league round sweep, to meet Mizoram in fina

IMPHAL, Nov 2 : Manipur are in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy Plate Group final as they trounced Nagaland by 64 runs to complete the league round sweep at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow today.
Put in to bat first, Manipur, who had won four of four previous games, racked up a modest total of 125/9 in the allotted 20 overs before restricting Nagaland to 61/9 on the back of frugal bowling performances.
Barkatun produced the best knock of 32 runs off 22 balls for Manipur including 4 fours and 1 six as Tennish 24 off 35, Moirangthem Creety 14 off 16, and L Prena 10 off 9 balls also recorded small but significant double digit scores for the team.
Imsusenla Longkumer 3/12 and Meriyani 3/11 shared a bulk of 6 wickets for Nagaland in this innings before their chase folded up at 61 despite efforts from Iduabeule 13 off 22, Radhika Mondal 11 off 20 and Anupriya Basumatary 10 off 24.
Lingjen was the pick of the Manipuri bowlers as she finished with 2/12 in her spell of 4 overs while Tongbram Bandana (1/12), Thoithoi (1/10) and Barkatun (1/8) chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Notably, Manipur had registered a commanding 9-wicket win over Arunachal Pradesh in the opening league round match before securing a 45-run victory against Meghalaya, a 5-wicket win over Mizoram and a 9-wicket win over Sikkim in the following matches.
With today’s comprehensive win, Manipur finished as league winners of the Plate Group and set up a final date with Mizoram, who finished runners up in the league stage, on November 4 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
