Time for a new Manipur, says MAYOL

IMPHAL, Nov 2: The Manipur Youth League (MAYOL) has asserted that now is the most appropriate time to let a new Manipur take birth.
A statement issued by MAYOL on its second foundation day (November 3) said that the people of Manipur have been living in a society which has degenerated in every sphere.
Extensive corruption and nepotism are the two main factors for this degeneration.
Because of corruption and nepotism, both the Centre and the State Government have been sleeping over many key issues. The Government authorities do not want to take up any issue where they will not get commission, it said.
It alleged that the scourge of corruption has infected the judicial system too.
The youth of Manipur see the sequence of events which unfolded in the State since May 3, 2023 as sowing the seeds for a new Manipur. But the incapable leaders and the Government have been assaulting the dignity of the courageous youth and keeping their hands tied, it said.
Now is the perfect time for the emergence of a new Manipur, MAYOL asserted.
The youth of Manipur can learn a lesson from the recent anti-corruption and anti-nepotism movements seen in Bangladesh and Nepal where the youth taught their incompetent leaders and Governments befitting lessons, it said.
The MAYOL then called upon the youth of Manipur to replace the corruption and nepotism of old Manipur and justice and equality in a new Manipur.
It also called upon the youth to work collectively so as to establish a society based on honesty after uprooting the culture of dishonesty.
Creation of a new Manipur requires a large number of brave and honest youth. The youth must first control their anger, jealousy, arrogance, desires etc before embarking on the journey for a new Manipur, it said.
On the occasion of its second foundation, the MAYOL has also expressed solidarity with the displaced people.
It also distributed eatable and stationery items to Yaibilen Children Home, Keibi, and presented simple gifts to leaders of CSOs and other organisations who have been working in forefront in several key issues of the State.
