Tipra Motha likely to merge with NPP Sangma eyes strong political platform

IMPHAL, Nov 2: The National People’s Party (NPP) is determined to  strengthen itself  and create a strong political platform for the entire North East region in association with regional parties of the region and towards this line the Tipra Motha Party of Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma is likely to merge with the NPP.
It has already convened a meeting at New Delhi on November 3 to give a concrete shape to this vision.
The meeting scheduled tomorrow will deliberate on several strategies to strengthen the NPP and the party may take a new path after the meeting, sources said.
The meeting which would be chaired by NPP National president and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma would be attended by Tripura’s titular king and Tipra Motha Party leader Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma and representatives of a regional political party of Nagaland.
The NPP leader and the leaders of these regional political parties may deliberate on creating a strong political platform for the entire North East, said the sources.
Notably, Conrad K Sangma arrived at Imphal in a chartered flight this afternoon. He was here to attend the Heijingpot ceremony of MLA Khuraijam Loken’s son.
The NPP National president came together with Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma and the two left Imphal for Delhi on a chartered flight in the evening.  
Sources said that the Tipra Motha Party may merge with the NPP so as to strengthen a pan North East party.
