IMFL destroyed

IMPHAL, Nov 2 : The Excise Department disposed liquor worth over Rs 1.2 crore (Rs 1,21,09,286) at its headquarters office complex at Lamphelpat today.
The destroyed liquor included 3,915.91 litre of different brands of IMFL (rum) worth Rs 23,49,546; 24,760.05 litre of beer worth Rs 74,28,015; 80 litre of wine worth Rs 32,000, and 22,997.25 litre of DIC liquor worth Rs 22,99,725.
The destroyed liquor and the debris were subsequently buried using heavy machinery in the presence of Excise Commissioner Hungyo Worshang, Assistant Commissioner  Ng Rajesh, SP (Excise) Thing-baijam Brucelee and other top Excise officials.
The liquor were seized under Section 69 of Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991 by 13 Excise Station/Zones namely Zone I, II, III, IV V and Excise Stations of Hiyangthang, Kangchup, Keithelmanbi, Koirengei, Lamlai, Porompat, Sekmai, Mayang Imphal for carrying without valid permits with effect from January 1 to October 29, 2025.
Speaking to the media, Excise SP Th Brucelee said that the liquor were destroyed to decongest the malkhana at the Excise Department Headquarters at Lamphelpat and to create space for newly seized items.
He further stated that the destroyed liquor included items deposited by the Army and Assam Rifles.
