IMPHAL, Nov 29: BJP Manipur Pradesh has lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police asking if any Congress meeting was held at the conference hall of Jiribam police station’s guest house, and if yes, why such a political meeting was allowed at the police station.
One Mannan Laskar uploaded a photograph on his Facebook page. The particular photograph appeared to be a picture of a Congress meeting held at the conference hall of Jiribam police station’s guest house on November 24 with Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra in the chair.
The same photograph also carried a caption “Meeting with honourable president, MPCC Meghachandra ji at Jiribam police guest house.”
In the photograph shared by Mannan Laskar, a banner of a programme on community policing organised by Jiribam police can be seen in the backdrop.
Taking serious note of the photograph which is alleged to be of a Congress party’s meeting attended by K Meghachandra and functionaries of Jiribam Block Congress Committee, BJP Manipur Pradesh has lodged a complaint with DGP Rajiv Singh.
The complaint asked whether the particular photograph was a real picture of a Congress party’s meeting; if yes, with whose permission the political meeting was held at the police station’s guest house and whether any political party can hold meetings within the premises of a police station.
According to some BJP Manipur Pradesh leaders, the DGP asked them to send the link of the particular photograph shared on social media, and assured that he would look into the matter.
Mannan Laskar also shared a video of a ‘joint organisational meeting and interaction’ organised by Jiribam Block Congress Committee at Jiribam Babupara community hall on November 23.
The particular video shared by Mannan Laskar on his Facebook page showed MPCC president K Meghachandra and AICC Manipur in-charge Christopher Tilak speaking at the meeting which was attended by members of Jiribam Block Congress Committee, Mahila Congress and Youth Congress.
It is said that Mannan Laskar is a resident of Jiribam and he is a Congress worker.
