IMPHAL, Nov 29 : Chanam Luchingbi shone with a double gold as the 42nd Mini, Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior Artistic and 6th Aerobic and Trampoline State Level Gymnastics Championships got underway at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak this morning.
The championships were formally opened in the presence of social worker O Romen; All Manipur Gymnastics Association (AMGA) president L Tiken; MOA vice president, M Rachandra; and AMGA vice president W Inaomacha as presidium members.
The opening day saw Chanam Luchingbi of HYO collecting two gold medals as she topped in both the balancing beam and floor exercise events for mini girls.
Luchingbi secured 10.35 points to win the gold medal in the balancing beam event as Gurumayum Silhenbi of UYC (10.30 pts) and Anoubam Anjalica of HYO (9.95 pts) finished second and third to settle for the silver and the bronze medals.
In the floor exercise event, Luchingbi scored 10.50 points to finish on top followed by Naorem Grace of THYIO (10.40 pts) and Anoubam Anjalica of HYO (10.35 pts) in second and third places.
The day also saw M Musharaf of UYAC winning floor exercise gold and vaulting table silver.
Naoroibam Lanchenba of Citizen Club clinched the vaulting table gold for mini boys securing 9.92 points as Mayangmayum Musharaf secured 8.64 points to settle for the silver medal.
M Musharaf however topped floor exercise event with 8.44 points to seal a gold medal as N Lanchenba of Citizen Club settled for the silver medal on 8.14 points and Pangambam Tomthin of UYAC bagged the bronze medal on 5.3 points.
