IMPHAL, Nov 3 : Employees across all Government departments of the State are set to stage a pen down strike tomorrow, Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) president Laishram Sarat has announced.
This follows the failure of the Statement Government to address the 16 point demands submitted by MGSF on behalf of Government employees.
Speaking to media persons at Pensioners Shanglen, Pishumthong, Laishram Sarat said that none of the 16 demands are unrealizable, but seek administrative measures from the Government to ensure the welfare of employees.
Though the employees staged a black badge strike from October 27 to 30, the lack of response from the Government has necessitated the pen down strike and a notice has been sent to the Government in this connection, he added.
The demands listed in the memorandum include raising DA/DR (Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief) to the scale entitled to Central Government employees, taking steps to approve entitled promotions and implementing the 7th Pay Commission in departments where the same has not yet been implemented, among others.
The State Government's decision to raise the DA by just 3% while there is a backlog of 19% is unacceptable to MGSF, said Sarat. Seeking the cooperation of all Government employees for tomorrow's strike to make their demands reach the Government, he informed that essential service and educational institution employees will be exempted.
If the Government continues to ignore MGSF's demands even after the pen down strike, employees are prepared to launch intense protests across various district headquarters and offices, he said.
