IMPHAL, Nov 3 : Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL), Kangleipak has endorsed the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity's (COCOMI) decision to boycott the Sangai Festival.
Joining the chorus of voices opposing the conduct of the festival by the Government, MEELAL, in a press release, shed light on the plight of IDPs languishing in relief camps and the damage inflicted on the State's economy due to the conflict.
Under such circumstances when the IDPs have not yet been resettled, it is inappropriate to hold Sangai Festival or any other festivities, said MEELAL.
It also urged both the Central and State Government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur and ensure the safe return of IDPs to their original homes.
