IMPHAL, Nov 4: Government employees under the banner of the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) organised a pen down strike today.
The pen-down stir, however, was exempted for essential/emergency services including health, fire service and schools and colleges.
The federation's general secretary, S Probinkumar said the stir was organised demanding the Government to address the grievances of its employees.
The stir is to benefit Government employees and pensioners, he said.
The federation has in the past submitted two charters of demands. However, demands have not been fulfilled yet, he added.
The demands include an appeal to the Government to extend the retirement age from 60 to 62 years, he said.
The federation, he said, is demanding increase in the DA (Dearness Allowance) of pensioners and employees to the level of Central Government employees.
The Governor and the Chief Secretary, despite repeated appeals, have not given the federation an appointment to share and discuss the grievances of the State employees and pensioners, he said.
If no appointment is given soon, the federation may intensify the stir, he said.
