Women’s U-19 T20 Trophy Manipur lose by 72 runs to Mizoram to finish runners up

IMPHAL, Nov 4 : Manipur suffered a 72-run final loss to Mizoram to finish runners up in the Women’s U-19 T20 Trophy Plate Division today at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Ground, Lucknow.
Manipur, who produced sweeping victories in the league round, had to regret their decision to field first as they faltered horribly and slumped to 45 all out within 14.4 over while chasing 118 for the win today
Asked to bat first, Mizoram rode on a 50-ball 68 knock from Ruatpuii and Sandhia’s unbeaten 29 off 24 balls, to post a modest total of 117/6.
Manipur however folded up for a disappointing total of 45 runs as none of the batters managed to reach double digit figure in the face of fierce Mizoram bowlers.
Five of the 6 Mizoram bowlers were among the wickets with Branda (3/6 in 3 overs), Sandhia (2/5 in 3 overs) and Jojo (2/9 in 3 overs) sharing a bulk of 7 wickets, and Saron (1/19) and Nunmawii (1/0) sharing a wicket apiece. For Manipur, Barkatun picked two wickets (2/25) as Thoithoibi (1/32), Khundrakpam Bijiya (1/15), and Thokchom Alice (1/16) chipped in with a wicket apiece.
