IMPHAL, Nov 4 : The Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has urged all organisations and groups to consult them or other relevant stakeholders before making any allegations against the Manipur University (MU) authorities.
Speaking to the media, MUSU president Yambem Nongpoknganba said that they have investigated the allegation against the MU authorities regarding the Vice-Chancellor serving as the head/chairperson of the selection committee for Registrar, Finance Officer, and Controller of Examinations while allegedly holding two voting rights.
Stating that a joint monitoring mechanism is required if the Vice-Chancellor heading the selection committee and exercising two voting rights is controversial, he added that a Court case is already pending regarding the recruitment process for the Registrar.
He further stated that the Vice-Chancellor has full authority over staff recruitment up to two months before the end of his term.
He also stated that they found no irregularity in the recruitment process of 78 non teaching staff.
