22nd death anniversary of Lungnila Elizabeth observed

SENAPATI, Nov 4: The 22nd death anniversary of Baby Lungnila Elizabeth was observed at the Lungnila Elizabeth College at Senapati DHQs today with heartfelt tributes.
The remembrance began with a prayer led by Cecelia, invoking blessings of comfort and eternal peace.
Hingba Joyson, secretary of the college, revisited the cruel abduction and killing of Lungnila Elizabeth that once shook the hearts of the people, and recalled the pain and grief of former Minister Francis Ngajokpa, the father of Late Lungnila Elizabeth.
The college named after her stands not merely as a monument of grief, but as a beacon of peace, forgiveness and justice, a living legacy of compassion born out of pain, Hingba said.
Staff and students paid floral tributes to the portrait of Lungnila Elizabeth.
The gathering then observed a silent prayer, led by Daihii Rona, Vice Principal of the college.
The day was also observed today at Sangai Bazar Complex, Takhellambam Konjil, Imphal West.
As in the previous years, the death anniversary function was organised by Thoithoi Adventure Park managing director kh Inaoba and his family.
Offering of floral tributes to the photograph of Lungnila Elizabeth was the main feature of the death anniversary function.
Notably, Lungnila Elizabeth, then just 8 years old and reading in Class III, was abducted by some unidentified persons from the gate of her school (Little flower School) on November 3, 2003.
The decomposed body of Lungnila Elizabeth was found on November 12, 2003 at Sadokpam Leikai.
Speaking at the death anniversary function, Kh Inaoba prayed that such bestial crimes may never happen again.
He said that his family has been organising the death anniversary function of Lungnila Elizabeth to give a message to all the people to give up all forms of violence. He further prayed that the IDPs may be able to return to their homes next year.
