Sonapur Cricket Team emerge Jiribam Cricket Tournament winners

The Jiribam Cricket Tournament, organized by Dett-156 Battalion, CRPF, under the aegis of Sports Authority of India as part of the Khelo India initiative, concluded on Wednesday at Bidyanagar Sports Complex, Jiribam.
Sonapur Cricket Team emerged as the champions of the 12-team tournament that began on October 25 by defeating Sun Rise Club, Kadamtala (SRCK) by 57 runs in the final match staged today.
The closing ceremony was graced by Vishnu Gautam, DIG CRPF, as the chief guest, along with Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, and other distinguished dignitaries.  The ceremony marked the culmination of a successful tournament that aimed to promote peace and brotherhood through sports among local youth.
Winners Sonapur Cricket team were awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, a trophy, and medals, while the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a trophy, medals, and a certificate.
Sonapur Cricket team also walked away with the individual prizes as Altaf Hussain and Shahar Alam were adjudged man of the series and man of the final match.
The ceremony was also attended by senior officials, including Omkar Nath Singh, Commandant-156 Bn; Tapan Kumar, Commandant-87 Bn; Shiva Rama Krishna, Commandant-48 Bn;  Kanhaiya Singh, Second-in-Command-156 Battalion’ Ravi Shankar Sharma, Second-in-Command-156 Battalion; Th Monoranjan Singh, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jiribam, and Santi Ranjan Mandal, Deputy Commandant of 156 Bn, CRPF.
