Now Shija Hospital goes to Tripura

Imphal, Nov 6 : In a significant step towards streng- thening Tripura's healthcare infrastructure, Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha today laid the foundation stone for Shija Hospitals, Agartala, a multi-speciality and super-speciality hospital to be established at RK Nagar, Khayerpur, West Tripura.
The project is set to be implemented in 4 phases over nine years and is an initiative of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt Ltd Imphal, said a press release.
The ceremony was also graced by Ratan Chakraborty, MLA of Khayerpur and Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Health, Government of Tripura along with senior officials, healthcare professionals, community leaders, Meitei community settled in Tripura and the local populace.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the Government had alloted 28 acres of land for the project while adding that a strong monitoring mechanism has been ensured to facilitate smooth implementation.
"The establishment of Shija Hospital, Agartala will not only enhance the healthcare infrastructure of Tripura but also create employment opportunities in terms of thousands of local people. Our vision is to make Tripura a health and medical hub serving the people of the North East and neighbouring countries. Shija Hospital's success in conducting kidney transplants here has strengthened our confidence", he added.
Dr Palin Khundongbam, CMD, Shija Hospitals, expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Tripura for their support.
He outlined the hospital's plans to offer advanced facilities including organ transplants, robotic and joint replacement surgeries, interventional cardiology, neuroscience, cancer care and comprehensive wellness services.
The proposed campus will also house institutions for nursing, paramedical and healthcare management education, furthering local skill development and employment, as per the statement.
