Prep for MANITEX inspected

IMPHAL, Nov 7 : Additional Chief Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) Anurag Bajpai today paid a visit and inspected preparations for Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX) 2025 which is set to kick off tomorrow.
Organised by the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles, Manipur at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi, MANITEX 2025 will be held from November 8 to 12.
Anurag Bajpai was accompanied by Elangbam Jeeten, Director, Handloom & Textiles, Manipur; Th Basanta, Deputy Director (Handloom) and other officials of the Directorate while inspecting the structures and stalls set up for MANITEX 2025.
The Additional Chief Secretary also discussed events planned for the expo with relevant officials where buying houses (intermediaries between manufacturers and retailers) from 16 different countries are set to participate.
Speaking to media persons, Anurag Bajpai said that all arrangements for the international mega event are complete.
Internally Displaced Persons will be given significant opportunities at the expo.
Discussions have been conducted to upgrade Urban Haat, Nilakuthi like Delhi Haat where National and international events can be hosted, he said.
Meanwhile, E Jeeten said that MANITEX 2025 is being organised to increase the income of handloom and textiles artisans of the State by giving them a platform to sell their products outside Manipur.
At the expo, the handloom and handicraft products will be divided into different stalls for the convenience of buyers.
To prevent selling of products at inflated costs, the items will be price controlled.
Additionally, fashion parades and entertainment programs depicting the art and culture of Manipur will also be showcased at the expo, added the Director of Handloom & Textiles, Manipur.
