27th Sub-Junior Fencing Nationals Haryana take unassailable lead as Pavani strikes 6th gold medal

IMPHAL, Nov 7 : Haryana are runaway leaders in the 27th Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship hosted by Manipur Fencing Association as Pavani swelled their medal tally to 6 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze today.
Punjab and Manipur are second and third in the tally with 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals apiece. 2 gold medal events are left to be conducted tomorrow.
Pavani bagged the 6th gold medal of the State unit by defeating Ekamnoor Kaur of Punjab in the girls’ Epee final.
Jaskeerat Kaur of Punjab and G Gangotri of Telangana shared the bronze medal podium in this event.
Meanwhile, Thingujam Jaceyon bagged Manipur’s second gold medal by beating Veer Kumar Gupta of Chhattisgarh in the boys’ Epee final.
Nongmeikapam Chidananda settled for a bronze medal in this competition alongside Ashwin Kumar of Haryana.
