23rd Asian Master Athletics C’ship State athletes add 9 medals as India amass 24 medals

IMPHAL, Nov 7 : State athletes contributed 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals as India amassed 10 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals till day 3 at the 23rd Asian Master Athletics Championship being underway in Chennai.
Manipur Masters Athletics Association representing India-Thoudam Akasini, Soraisham Manihar, W Subida and Th Ibomcha Singh securing gold medals. Akasini bagged the gold medal in the above 75 years women’s 1500 m race. She took 8:12.37 to secure the gold medal. Soraisham Manihar meanwhile clocked 10:11.39 to claim the gold medal in the 80+men’s 1500 m race.
W Subida on the other hand sealed the 70+ women’s 1500 m race with a time of 8:12.37 as Th Ibomcha leaped 3.65 m to win the long jump gold in the men’s 80+ competition.
Romeshchandra (35+ yrs long jump), S Thambal Sharma (65+ ys 200 m), and Th Radhesana (45+ yrs 80 m hurdles) meanwhile won silver medals for India as Noarem Brajamani (45+ yrs 5000 m racewalk) and S Somananda (40+ yrs pole vault) settled for bronze medals.
