MU Inter College Football Thoubal College beat Standard College to set up pre-quarterfinal date with CI College

IMPHAL, Nov 7 : Thoubal College knocked out Standard College by a slender 1-0 margin to set up a pre-quarterfinal date with Chanambam Ibomcha College in the Ayekpam Pratap Singh Memorial MU Inter College Men’s Football Tournament.
The lone goal that earned Thoubal College a pre-quarterfinal ticket was scored by N Malemnganba in the 52nd minute at Keirak playground.
Later in the day, Moirang College and Mayai Lambi College also secured comprehensive wins to book their pre-quarterfinal tickets.
Moirang College outlasted UNACCO College in the second match of the day by 4-1 goals thanks to goals coming from Arjun (7’), Rakesh (9’), Niyamad (22’) and Jahir (44’).
The consolation goal for UNACCO College was scored by Ricky in the 48th minute.
In the third match, Mayai Lambi College rode on S Swamichandra’s brace (64’, 68’) to seal a 4-0 win against Saraswati Institute of Management after Th Rishi (24’) and Salman (59’) took their turns to put their team in the driver’s seat. Mayai Lambi College will now meet Kakching Khunou College, who got a first round bye, in a pre-quarterfinal match November 10.
