
Kamjong, Nov 7(DIO): As part of the Nationwide celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, My Bharat Kamjong organized the Unity March Sardar@150 Unity March from Chassad Police Station to Town Hall, Kamjong.
The march was flagged off by Rangnamei Rang Peter, Deputy Commissioner, Kamjong, who also attended as chief guest.
The programme aimed to reinforce the spirit of National unity and encourage greater youth participation in community development under the theme Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental role in integrating 562 princely States and building a united India.
He underscored Patel’s contribution to establishing a robust administrative framework and urged the youth to emulate his ideals of discipline, service, and integrity.
Peter further emphasized that every citizen has a moral responsibility to preserve the unity and harmony that form the foundation of the Nation.
The event was also attended by Jain Huileng, ADM Kamjong; Hoping Chithung, Headman of Bungpa Khullen Village; and Woryar Bungpadang, president of Kamjong Katamnao Long, who administered the Bharat Atma Nirbhar pledge.
Participants paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, followed by cultural performances and the distribution of sports materials to youth clubs.
More than 600 participants, including MY Bharat volunteers, students, youth leaders, ASHA workers, Church members, police personnel, BSF and community representatives, joined the march, covering nearly 8 km while raising spirited slogans promoting unity, peace and national pride.
In the run-up to the event, ZEO Kamjong organized a series of school and college- level activities including essay and poster-making competitions, extempore speeches, yoga sessions and cleanliness drives. These pre-event programmes were aimed at engaging students, promoting civic responsibility and strengthening awareness of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
