Beware of frauds !

Sir,
I am writing this with a heavy heart, hoping The Sangai Express can help spread awareness and protect innocent people in Manipur from a growing cyber fraud that recently affected my family.
My father is an honest, innocent man — a person who has always trusted others and believed in good intentions. A few weeks ago, he was contacted by fraudsters pretending to be Bajaj Finance agents from Mumbai. They spoke professionally, shared fake documents and logos, and promised him a loan after a small “processing fee.” Believing them to be genuine, my father followed their instructions.
They asked him to make payments through a UPI ID — Paytm (9199315427@ptaxis). Once he sent the money, they became aggressive and started threatening him. We later discovered that the entire setup was a scam. The experience left my father deeply shaken and humiliated, even though he did nothing wrong. He was simply a victim of trust.
We immediately reported the case on the official cybercrime portal (cybercrime.gov.in) and received the acknowledge- ment number 22009250001124.
I have also informed the Mumbai Police, Manipur Police, and Bajaj Finance officials. However, what worries me most is that these scammers are now targeting people in Manipur as well.
I am sharing this story not to gain sympathy, but to raise awareness. Many elders in Manipur, like my father, are unfamiliar with online scams and digital payments.
They trust easily, especially when someone speaks politely or uses a well-known brand name. Scammers are exploiting this innocence, and our people need to be warned before more families go through the same pain.
Through your respected newspaper, I kindly request you to consider publishing this story or a short awareness article. If even one person reads it and avoids becoming a victim, it will make a huge difference.
Manipur deserves to be informed and protected from such online crimes.
