4 lakh people respond to Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod campaign

IMPHAL, Nov 8: A record number of as many as 4,07,241 people appended their signatures and took part in the "Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod" campaign in Mani-pur, said Congress leader MLA K Meghachandra today.
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president announced this as the party ended the campaign today at its office at BT Road, Imphal.
Briefing media persons, Meghcandra said the Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod signature campaign received overwhelming response in the State.
The campaign was launched by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who has accused the BJP of committing vote fraud to elect their candidates in the last Parliament elections.
The Nationwide campaign, initiated under the Lok Sabha Opposition leader, had set a target to gather 5 crore signatures. This target has been achie-ved, Meghachandra said.
Percentage-wise, the number of signatures collected in Manipur is higher than other North East States, Meghachandra said.
The details of the campaign in Manipur and the list of the signatures have been sent to AICC's Mani-pur in-charge Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, he added.
Former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, former MP Dr T Meinya, ex-MLAs and members of the party attended the closing pro- gramme of the signature campaign.
CLP leader Okram Ibobi released two songs dubbed "Songs of Congress"--written by former MLA Moirangthem Hemanta.
The songs--"Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod & Sarkar Semba Ngamdraga Karigi Congressta Tainariba"--were declared MPPC's official songs by its president MLA K Meghanchandra.
