27th Sub-Junior National Fencing Championships Haryana secure both boys and girls’ team titles; hosts Manipur secure boys team runners up title

IMPHAL, Nov 8 : Haryana boys and girls’ teams emerged champions in the 27th Sub-Junior National Fencing Championships hosted by the Manipur Fencing Association at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium under the aegis of the Fencing Association of India.
Haryana secured 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals to seal the boys team title as Manipur secured 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals to settle for the runners up spot.
Meanwhile, Haryana girls amassed 4 gold and 2 silver medals to earn the team title followed by Punjab, who finished with 3 silver and 2 bronze medals, as runners up.
Overall, Haryana finished atop with 7 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in the championship that saw participation of more than 400 fencers from across the country as Manipur sealed second spot on 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals and Punjab finished third on 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals.
The final day of the championships saw Haryana girls team comprising Dalal Vanshika, Gahlyan Priyanshi, Pavani, and Nancy beat Manipur team comprising Ningombam Bindiya, Hijam Loyanganbi, Naorem Priyanganbi, and Sagolshem Chilchila for the girls’ epee team title. Telangana and Punjab teams shared bronze medals in this event.
Meanwhile, Manipur boys’ team consisting of Yumnam Krishna, Nongmeikapam Chidananda, Oinam Reo Meitei, and Thingujam Jaceyon claimed the epee team title by defeating Haryana team featuring Kadian Sarvesh, Ashwin Kumar, Piyush, and Abhay Saini in the title clash.
Chhattisgarh and Punjab teams shared the bronze medal podium in the competition.
