Mary Kom Boxing Academy emerge overall team champions

IMPHAL, Nov 30 : Mary Kom Boxing Academy (MKBA) were crowned overall team champions of the 3rd Governor’s Cup Boxing Championships 2025 organised by the Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
MKBA amassed 117 points on the back of 22 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals to secure the overall team champions title as Sarita Regional Boxing Academy (SRBA) finished first runners up on 80 points from 13 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals.
National Sports Academy (NSA) meanwhile finished second runners up on 65 points from 9 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals.
The final day of the championship saw Yumnam Thoibi of SRBA securing U-15 Girls’ 58 kg category gold by defeating SAI-Imphal’s Ch Diana 5-0.
U-17 Girls
Saikhom Bema Chanu on the other hand sealed the U-17 Girls’ 63 kg category title as she sealed an RSC win over SBA’s Thoidingjam Priya after Thoudam Diana of MKBA sealed the 60 kg category title with a 4-1 win over SRBA’s Naorem Artina.
MKBA’s Moirangthem Khrismira (46 kg) and Lamameilu Gangmei (48 kg) also won gold medals in their respective weight categories as SRBA’s Thongbam Phabisana (50 kg), Maria Pame (52 kg), Aheibam Sonia of SAI-Imphal (54 kg) and SRBA’s Longjam Radhamani (57 kg) too finished on top.
U-19 Girls
SRBA’s Tekcham Neeha clinched the gold medal in the U-19 Girls’ 65 kg category competition as she overwhelmed UYDC’s Thokchom Geetanjali 5-0 after Yumnam Rakhi of PKBA earned the 60 kg category gold with an identical win against MKBA’s Nimsolan Khapai Shimrah.
Thangjam Sneha of MKBA (48 kg), Gunshalu Khumba of MKBA (51 kg), Loitongbam Luxmi of SAI-Imphal (54 kg) and MKBA’s Nongthombam Luxmi (57 kg) also sealed gold medals in their respective weight categories.
Elite Women
Sovi Jajo of MKBA edged SRBA’s Thongjam Kunjari 3-2 via split decision to clinched the Elite Women’s 60 kg category title as MKBA’s Huidrom Griviya beat Neha 4-1 to seal the 54 kg category title.
SRBA’s Wangjam Ethoibi (48 kg) and Maibam Rosemary (51 kg) also emerged victorious in their final bouts.
Other bouts
Thokchom Tompok of MKBA on the other hand earned the Elite Men’s 50 kg category title as he beat SRBA’s Md Mujahid 4-1 as NSA’s Usham Thouna Luwang (48 kg) and NSA’s Lairenlakpam Ambekar (50 kg) win gold medals in U-17 Boys’ competition.
