Free health camp for IDPs
IMPHAL, Dec 1: The Alumni Batch of DM College of Science (Class XII -1996 and TDC-1999) organised a free health and eye check-up camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying at Kumbi Relief Camp. The event also featured a Ningol Chakkouba celebration, which saw enthusiastic participation from women and children of the camp. The health camp featuring doctors from the alumni batch, was held in collaboration with Yaima Eye Care and We Care Foundation.
At team of ten doctors from departments including gynaecology, cardiology, and paediatrics, as well as alumni members such as neurosurgeon Dr Amitkumar Mayanglambam; DM Haematology, JNIMS, MD Medicine Dr Irom Anil; Dr Uthan of Medicine, provided free consultations and screenings.
The initiative benefited around 250 individuals from the relief camp and nearby areas of Kumbi.
Mangal Care Hospital, through We Care Foundation, also deputed doctors and radiologists who conducted ultrasound and ECG examinations. Medicines were also distributed free of cost to all patients.
Yaima Eye Care Hospital conducted free eye examinations, during which 14 elderly patients were identified with cataracts and pterygium. The hospital also initiated the necessary processes for follow-up care.
The event concluded with a vibrant Chakkouba celebration, where women and children from the relief camp were warmly welcomed by the Alumni Group.
