IMPHAL, Dec 11: Manipur beat hosts Sikkim by 242 runs for the fourth straight win in the Cooch Behar Trophy Plate group at SICA Ground, Rangpo today.
Manipur now need at least one point against Nagaland to qualify for the Plate Group final. The team will face Nagaland starting December 16.
Leading the group with 24 points now, Manipur had set a target of 406 runs for Sikkim in the four-round clash.
In their first and last innings, Manipur scored 155 and 395 runs respectively.
Sikkim could score 145 and 163 runs only in their first and last innings handing Manipur a comfortable win by a massive 242 runs.
In Sikkim's last innings at the Rangpo SICA Ground today, Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba and Naesh scalped four wickets each to bundle out Sikkim and arrest their runs at 163 for 10 in 57.2 overs.
Sahil put in commendable efforts to wear out Manipur, and scored 62 runs off 146 balls before falling to a run-out.
Deepak did best but scored only 43 runs off 63 balls.
Denree (22 runs), Inzamamul (13), Parvin (7), Avneesh (6) and Aadnan (5) managed to chipped some runs, but were sent out quickly by Naesh and Chingkheinganba who were on a streak taking wickets.
Facing an ignited Manipur onslaught, Sikkim bundled out at 163 in 57.2 overs.
In the previous innings yesterday, Manipur trio of Thokchom Lucky, Ali Karim, Md Danish had scored big to help the team declare on 395/8 and give Sikkim a target of 406 runs.
The pair of Ali Karim (93 off 179; 12 fours) and Danish (74 off 126; 5 fours) chipped in 167 runs.
Notably, Manipur were dismissed for 155 in the first innings before Danish 3/38, Rain 2/17, and Y Chingkhei Nganba 2/19 joined forces to bundle out Sikkim for 145 runs in the first innings.
